*This test will only assess your reading, writing and vocabulary levels. You are still requierd to provide an interview to properly assess your overall level. Your level may fall one level above or below the level provided in the result based on your interview performance.
Classes are currently completely online but they are live and you can interact with the teachers who are themselves native speakers of the language and other students who are at the same learning level as you!
At International House Modern Languages, we don’t just teach grammar and vocabulary. Our experienced teachers customize lessons to incorporate topics of conversation that align with the student’s passions, profession and daily life. This approach allows you to seamlessly apply your newly acquired language skills to practical, real-world situations. Our goal is to help you speak fluently, confidently and easily in any situation.Â
General Language Group evening classes for adults 16+
Classes are once a week for 2 hours (6:30 to 8:30 pm) Monday to Thursday Vancouver time. Some groups change their schedule for morning hours or Fridays.
The schedule (the day of the week) depends on the language and level.
We have 6 intakes during the year (Sessions A,B,C,D,E,F). One session is 8 weeks long.
All classes are online via MS Teams and a live interactive sessions (both group and private lessons).
Minimum number of students per group is 3.
Maximum numbers of students per group is 10.
If 2 students register, the class is converted to semi-private and it is shortened to either 6 classes of 120 minutes or 8 classes of 90 minutes.
With 1 student only the class is cancelled and the student is offered the following options:
postponing the classes for one week (in case somebody else registers)
converting their tuition to 5 classes of 60 minutes (private language lessons)
keeping their tuition as a credit for a future session (valid for 1 year)
Preparing to study with us is easy. All you need are three things: A stable internet connection, a computer, and the free video conferencing tool MS Teams.
Please kindly note that the cost of books is not included in the tuition fee.
The prices of the books vary between $40 to $90, depending on the language. It is worth mentioning that one book is used for several levels, depending on the language.
Lastly, please be advised that there is a no-refund policy on books.

C1 Advanced, also called Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE), is one of our Cambridge English Qualifications. Its in-depth, high-level qualification shows you have the language skills employers and universities seek.
C1 Advanced is a thorough test of all areas of language ability.

B2 First, also known as Cambridge English: First (FCE), is a qualification. It is a popular exam, accepted by thousands of businesses and educational institutions worldwide.
B2 First is a test of all areas of language ability.
This exam comprises four papers developed to test your English language skills.
The Speaking test is taken face to face, with two candidates and two examiners. This creates a more realistic and reliable measure of your ability to use English to communicate.
The formats below are the same for both paper-based and computer-based exams.

CELPIP is an English language proficiency test accepted for Canadian immigration and citizenship purposes. It is designed to assess the English language skills of individuals applying for permanent residency or Canadian citizenship.
The test measures listening, reading, writing, and speaking abilities in real-life situations.
CELPIP scores are accepted by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) as proof of language proficiency.
Benefits of taking the CELPIP exam include:
